Snow.

Snow is falling, falling like forgiveness from the sky… or so say the lyrics from one of my favorite songs by Over the Rhine. These past few days, during what the newscasters have started to call the Blizzard of 2007, a lot of snow has fallen from the sky. The world outside my window is snow white, bark black, pine green, and deck brown. Snow covers everything, resting in places the forest probably didn’t know existed.

For one of my classes, I’ve been studying Romans 7 & 8, reading about Paul’s struggle between the flesh and the spirit, and then his exclamation of praise as he proclaims freedom in the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus—that he is no longer under the condemnation of the Law, that he is free from trying to measure up to it. I wonder if he found snow in places he didn’t know he had either.
