From the Writer's Circle

I wrote the following pantoum for the writer's circle this past Monday night. For it, I selected random words from my writer's-block-debunking-deck and this is what came:

Sometimes I wish I could climb

Into a canoe with a drum

And paddle across the lake

To an adobe house in Wisconsin.

Drumming in a canoe provokes

Ancient thoughts and remembrances

Of adobe houses in Wisconsin

Or sacred coffee moments elsewhere.

Ancient thoughts and remembrances

May be mine or the collective memory

Of sacred coffee moments elsewhere

Or the dusty silence of people.

Maybe all memories

Wish they could climb

Into the dusty silences of people

As they paddle across the lake.
