This morning I awoke
with the sunriseOrange globe hiding
behind the skyline
Casting its golden glow
over smog
Highlighting spring fog
in January
This morning I awoke
with a heartache
Painful, beating muscle
behind my ribs
Pumping its sad hue
through my veins
Outlining melancholic clouds
in my mind
Slowly the sun rises
past buildings
Rays streaming first
over drying dishes
Glistening over the cat
as she sleeps
Creeping through my eyes
finally into me
