Today I am writing a paper on the nature and origin of sin. A fun, lighthearted topic to say the least. It is becoming a controversial topic in some evolutionary-theological circles, and the debate is both fascinating and depressing. It is, however, also hopeful. As the Wesleyan theologian Wiley says, you cannot study the nature of sin without also studying the nature of redemption. In recognizing sin, the absolute and perfect redemption found in Christ becomes more and more evident.
In scouring Jesus' words for some insight into the origin, I came across this verse:
"Woman, you are freed from your sickness." Luke 13:12b.
Hooray!
